Rifka Retrievers was born long ago, as the dream of a young girl.

Thanks to that dream, Rifka Retrievers is a reality today.

In 2001, as a twelve year old girl I begged and begged my parents to purchase a Golden Retriever puppy from the barn I took riding lessons at. After relentless pestering I was finally granted permission to bring home a cute golden ball of fluff. I am sure at the time my parents thought the same thing all parents do…”this too shall pass”. Here I am almost twenty years later still living this “dream”.

That little ‘golden ball of fluff’ was named “Rio”, and she taught me many important lessons over the ten years we shared together. She was no “easy” dog, and as an unruly one year old pup we signed up for an Agility class at a local dog training club and I never looked back. Rio taught me patience and perseverance, but most of all she taught me everything I needed to know to be certain this breed would be my 'forever breed’.

Almost twenty years later Rifka Retrievers is no longer the vision of a young girl, but a reality. I have trained and shown my own dogs and worked professionally for handlers training and showing dogs for others. I have learned, and continue to learn, from some of the best people and dogs in our breed. I compete in many dog sports with my own personal dogs and am actively involved within my local breed club.

We are a preservation breeder located in Maryland. I believe that the Golden Retriever is a versatile dog that should be able to ‘do it all’ with the eagerness and willingness to do it well. We only breed on occasion when I have a breeding that I feel will bring something of value to our breed. The dogs we breed are bred with the breed standard in mind; focusing on structure, temperament, and natural ability. Our puppies are lovingly raised in our home and all of our dogs are beloved pets first and foremost.
